Terms & Legal
These terms are a legal agreement between you and TJ Wright ("we", "us"), the owner of Macbeth World, the album Urban Reign, the film Macbeth: Urban Reign, and the game Macbeth: Urban Reign. By using this website, the game, or any form on this site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. Using the site
- You must be at least 13 years old to use any form on this site. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission before you upload anything or reserve a seat.
- Don't misuse the site: no hacking, scraping, overloading, spam, impersonating others, or uploading anything illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or that you don't have the rights to.
- We may remove content, refuse entries, cancel reservations, or block access at any time, for any reason, including a breach of these terms.
2. Copyright and ownership
Everything on this site and in the game belongs to TJ Wright unless stated otherwise. That includes the songs, beats, recordings, lyrics, the film and its footage, stills and motion posters, the script, the game, its art and code, characters as adapted here, logos, the names "Urban Reign" and "Macbeth World", and all text and design. All rights reserved.
Shakespeare's original text of Macbeth is in the public domain. Our adaptation, arrangement, edits and presentation of it are protected.
You may view the site, stream the music here, and play the game for your own personal, non-commercial enjoyment. You may share links to the site. You may not copy, download (except where we offer a download), re-upload, sell, sample, remix for release, or otherwise use any of our material without our written consent.
3. Music and beat license
No commercial use without written consent. None of the songs or beats on this site may be used commercially without TJ Wright's written consent.
The two challenge beats, Tomorrow and Coronation, are owned by TJ Wright. When you download one, you get a free, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- record your own verse, hook or performance over it for the Tomorrow Challenge;
- post that recording on your own social media, unmonetized, with the credit "Beat: TJ Wright / Macbeth World";
- submit it to Macbeth World.
The license does not allow you to sell the beat or your song on it, distribute it to streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music and others), register it with Content ID or a performing rights organization, use it in ads, film, TV, games or any paid placement, claim ownership of the beat, or give the beat to anyone else. For any of that, ask us first and get written consent. We can end this license at any time, and if we ask, you must take your recording down.
The album songs are for listening only. No beat, sample, stem or recording may be reused in any form without written consent.
4. Fan submissions and release
This section covers anything you send through the Tomorrow Challenge or any other upload or link form: performances, reads, verses, songs, art, photos (including "wear your crown" photos), video, and your name or handle ("Submissions").
What you promise
- You made it, or you have every right needed to submit it.
- Everyone who can be seen or heard in it agreed to be in it and to these terms. A parent or guardian agreed for anyone under 18.
- It doesn't break any law or anyone else's rights, and it contains no one else's music, except our beats under section 3.
What you allow us to do
You keep ownership of your Submission. By sending it, you give TJ Wright and Macbeth World a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, display, perform, edit, crop, adapt and share your Submission. That includes your name, handle, voice, image and likeness as they appear in it. We can use it on this site, in the game, on social media, and in promotion for the album, film and game, in any media now known or later developed, without payment to you. We will try to credit you by the name or handle you give us.
Release and waiver
To the fullest extent the law allows, you release TJ Wright and Macbeth World from any claims related to the use of your Submission as allowed above, including claims for invasion of privacy, right of publicity, defamation, or copyright. Submitting doesn't guarantee your entry will be shown or chosen. We review entries before they appear on the Court wall and may decline or remove any of them. No prize, payment or role is promised unless we confirm it to you in writing.
Unsolicited ideas
If you send us ideas, scripts or suggestions, you agree we owe you nothing for them, and we may already be working on something similar.
5. Premiere reservations
- A reservation is free and is not a paid ticket. Your ticket number reserves a spot on our list, subject to capacity.
- Venue, date and time will be emailed to you. Events may be moved, changed or cancelled. Seating is first come, first served, and reserving doesn't guarantee entry if the venue is full.
- Bring your ticket number and a photo ID that matches the name on the reservation. Reservations can't be sold or transferred. We may cancel duplicate, fake or resold reservations.
- The film may contain mature content (see section 9). Venues may set their own age rules.
- You attend at your own risk. Events may be filmed or photographed. By attending, you agree we can use footage and photos that include you to promote the film, album and game.
6. The game and purchases
- The game is a work of fiction. Online features (shared cities, races, chat, co-op, leaderboards) are provided as is, and may change or stop at any time. Keep player names respectful; we may reset or remove names, scores and saves.
- In-game cash, cars, outfits, unlocks and passes are a limited license to use virtual items in the game. They have no real-world cash value, can't be traded or sold outside the game, and may change as the game is updated.
- Purchases in the iPhone app are made through Apple's App Store and follow Apple's terms. Refund requests go to Apple. Purchases on the web version, if offered, follow the terms shown at checkout.
7. The Macbeth Collection
Collection products are sold through our store partner, whose checkout, shipping, return and privacy terms apply to your order. Product colors and sizing on screen may vary slightly. Limited runs may sell out and may not be restocked.
8. Privacy
What we collect
- Email list: your email and, if you give it, your city.
- Challenge entries: name or handle, email, the link or file you send, and what kind of entry it is.
- Premiere reservations: name, email, optional phone, city, number of seats, and your ticket number.
- Game feedback: what you write, plus basic info about the device and screen it was sent from.
- On your device: the site and game save settings, progress and recent ticket numbers in your browser's local storage. That data stays on your device; you can clear it any time in your browser settings.
- Online play (if on): an anonymous player ID, the name you choose, and your position, scores and saves while you play online.
How we use it
We use your information to send the updates you asked for, run the challenge and the Court wall, manage premiere check-in, run the game, and improve the site. We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that run the site for us: website hosting and form processing (Netlify), online game data (Google Firebase, if online play is on), our store partner and payment processors for Collection orders, Apple for app purchases, and an email service if we use one. We also share it when the law requires.
Your choices
Every email we send has a way to unsubscribe. You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information, or to take down your Submission from our site, by contacting us (section 13). We will act on reasonable requests, though copies already shared publicly before removal may remain elsewhere. We keep form data only as long as we need it for the purposes above.
Children
This site isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Content notice
The album, film and game are an adult retelling of Macbeth. They depict crime, violence, guns, drugs, strip clubs, strong language and death. They are works of fiction and art and do not promote or encourage any illegal or harmful behavior. Any resemblance to real persons or businesses is coincidental, except where real public places in Houston, Detroit and Shanghai are shown as settings. Viewer and parental discretion advised.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The site, game, music, downloads and all features are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the site or game will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that saves, scores or online features will be kept.
To the fullest extent the law allows, TJ Wright and Macbeth World will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the site, game, events or submissions. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50.
You agree to defend and hold harmless TJ Wright and Macbeth World from claims caused by your Submissions, your use of our beats outside the license, or your breach of these terms. Some places don't allow certain limits on liability, so some of these may not apply to you.
11. Copyright complaints and takedowns
If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, or a fan Submission shows you without permission, send us a notice (see section 13). Include:
- your name and contact details;
- the work you own, and a link to the material on our site;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you're the owner or authorized to act for them;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We'll review and remove material where appropriate, and may end access for repeat infringers.
12. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and try to resolve it informally for at least 30 days. Any lawsuit must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a term isn't a waiver of it. These terms, plus any terms shown at a checkout or in the app store, are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
13. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and using the site after an update means you accept it. For big changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to give notice on the site.
